Reading Deadspin

Look, if I wanted to know how Basic White Bros* cooked, I would have a horrible taste in cooking.

*Emphasis on Basic

THREE. Because each piece of cheese covers 2/3 of the bread. In order to get a full double layer of cheese, you need 3 actual slices.

(I may or may not have eaten tomato soup and grilled cheese for dinner 4 times in the past week).

Too much cheese. I off set the slices. On one half the slice is on the side of the bread, vise versa on the other side.

I’m sure you aren’t trying to make me envision a double-decker cheese sandwich but I am.

1.5 slices to cover the bread completely. Then you eat the other .5 while you wait for the pan to heat up.

Heat up the pan while you prepare bread.

The real answer is none, because the best grilled cheese sandwich is made with grated cheese.

Depends, I might do a slice of mozzarella, then some grated medium cheddar.

The correct answer is a mix of cheddar, gruyere and maybe a little fontina, shredded and mixed together before applying to the toast. Furthermore, the sandwich should be made with real butter (local, if you can get it). And just before applying the top slice of toast and flipping the sammy, add some thinly sliced, ripe, chilled salad tomato slices.

This is the correct answer. I’ll eat a grilled cheese at your restaurant any day. :)

I usually do 1 slice sharp cheddar, 1 slice mozzarella, & some Parmesan. With salted butter. I put both bread slices butter side down, then one the cheese is melted I flip on side over and remove from the pan.

Too much bread with double deckers.

Depends if you’re just eating it or dipping in soup.

Ain’t nobody got time for that!

Actually it sounds amazing. But I’m truly way too lazy for that.

A good grilled cheese is well worth the effort.

But I’m also lazy. I’ll usually settle for just the sharp cheddar and tomato slices. With real (yummy) local butter. :)

I like your choices, but I typically go with slices to keep it together until it melts.

I usually buy my fontina or gruyere in chunks or wedges, hence the shredding. Damnit. Now I really want a grilled cheese.

The correct answer is many different cheeses, maybe even mac ‘ n’ cheese, and meats.
